Aaron Fike – No. 1 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra
San Bernardino County 200 Race Preview
Aaron Fike on Racing at California:
“I think we come to Fontana feeling pretty pumped up as a team after the great run we had at Daytona. Even though our finish didn’t show how good we ran, we definitely had a great run there and I am looking forward to getting back in the driver’s seat at California. Our TRD motor was strong at Daytona and that power will pay off at a track like California. Our goals this weekend are to stay out of trouble, as usual, and get a solid top-15 finish.”
Fike will Take a Trip to Toyota’s National Headquarters:
Aaron Fike will show his support for Toyota in an appearance at Toyota’s National Headquarters located in Torrance, Calif. for the annual Toyota Motorsports Day. Fike is scheduled to sign autographs for Toyota employees at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21st. After signing autographs for an hour-and-a-half, Fike will take part in a private luncheon with Toyota’s Senior Management. The days’ activities are scheduled to conclude at 3 p.m.
Notables:
Fike will make his second career start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and first at California Speedway at the drop of the greenflag for the start of the San Bernardino County 200 on Friday, Fuebruary 23rd, 2007.
Crew Member James Castiglione is Returning Home:
James Castiglione is a mechanic and signboard man for the No. 1 RFMS/Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra. Castiglione was born and raised in Lakeside, Calif., a suburb of San Diego which is located about two hours south of California Speedway. The 27-year-old is a 1996 graduate of El Capitan High School and began his career in Motorsports by helping his friend, Brandon Whitt, run late models at El Cajon Speedway; a 3/8’s mile track located in El Cajon, Calif. When Whitt made the move to the NASCAR AutoZone Elite Division, Southwest Series, Castiglione did as well. From there, the duo moved to North Carolina and Whitt was soon signed to drive for Clean Line Motorsports’ NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series team. Soon after, Castiglione was offered a position with the team. When Clean Line Motorsports was sold to Tom DeLoach and Red Horse Racing was formed, Castiglione stayed with the team where he currently remains. Castiglione’s parents, Joe and Pam, still reside in Lakeside.
Aaron Fike’s Performance at Daytona:
Aaron Fike proved that he has what it takes to race in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series after making his debut in the No. 1 RFMS/Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra on Friday night, February 16th, at Daytona International Speedway. Fike, who is a Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate, earned respect from drivers on and off the track after qualifying 12th, racing his way into second spot, maintaining a top-10 position for most of the night, and finishing 16th. Fike was stronger than his finish showed, but an inopportune caution on lap 89 set up a short shootout to the checkered flag. With only six laps remaining when the race returned to green, Fike restarted in 8th position and quickly jumped to the high side where he had made so much progress all night. But with three laps to go, Fike was shuffled to 16th where he finished out the night.
