One of the newest outgoing personalities in open-wheel competition will be taking the wheel of the #69 RFMS Racing midget at the 21st Annual Chili Bowl Nationals. 

 

USAC Career

 

2006 - Set the fastest ever Sprint car speed over one lap: 146.145 mph (Iowa, 2006)

Jumped to fourth in the National Sprint Car Series point standings, winning twice (Lernerville and Anderson Speedways) and notching seven Top 5s, as well as two fast qualifying times; Finished tough National Midget campaign eighth in points, with the highlight coming at Terre Haute, Ind. when winning the “Hut Hundred;” Scored six other Top 10s along the way

 

2005 - Captured eighth-place points finishes and Rookie of the Year honors in both National Sprint and Midget Car Series, becoming the first driver to take two Rookie awards in the same season; Came away with first career National Sprint feature win at hometown track (Perris, Calif.) during preliminaries of Budweiser “Oval Nationals;” Contested 28 other features with a fourth and six other Top 10s; Started 18 of the 20 National Midget features, topping out at fifth during the “4-Crown Nationals” at Eldora Speedway; Added four other Top-10 finishes

 

2004 - Made National Sprint debut with McMinn Motorsports, starting only four features.

 

2003 - Competed in four California Ford Focus Midget Car Series races, winning once (Irwindale, Calif.) and finishing seventh in another race

 

2002 - Recorded six starts in Focus racing, winning once (Bakersfield, Calif.) and posting three other podium finishes

Career – Owns four Go-Kart championships

2005 – Garnered track time in Sprinters during weekly local races on the Indiana Sprint scene, scoring a fast qualifying time early in the year at Bloomington Speedway

 

2002 – Competed in California Lightning Sprints, winning the Nationals race

Born Darren Hagen on July 2, 1986 in Loma Linda, Calif., but lists Riverside, Calif. as hometown, though he now lives in Indiana...Has two brother: Danny and Jimmy...Racing hero is Carl Edwards because he “always has a smile”...Hobbies outside racing include snowboarding and hanging out with brothers...Favorite vacation spot is Cobo, Mexico...Favorite foods are pizza and mom's homemade gravy...Biggest pet peeve is when someone doesn't put the cap back on the toothpaste...Afraid of small dog
