Aaron Fike – No. 1 Red Horse Racing Toyota Tundra

Martinsville - Kroger 250 Race Preview

Aaron Fike on Racing at Martinsville:

“I’m really looking forward to racing at Martinsville,” said Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender, Aaron Fike.  “It seems like a pretty unique short track with its “paper clip” shape and it has a good amount of history behind it.  I’m really not sure what to expect since I’ve never been there before but I think we’ll be alright.  I’ve got a lot of years of short-track racing behind me, so I’m sure that will help and make a difference.  Plus, I’ve got a great team in Red Horse Racing.  The guys back at the shop have done a great job preparing the trucks all year and the pit crew has done an awesome job too.  We’ve got one of the best teams out there, that’s for sure!”

Red Horse Racing is the Defending Winner:

Last year, Red Horse Racing won the Kroger 250 with driver David Starr, after qualifying 15th and leading 121 laps.  Fike is excited to descend on Martinsville Speedway in the same truck that David Starr drove to Victory Lane for Red Horse Racing last year.  “The pressure is definitely on,” said Fike.  “But it’s good to know that I’m going to Martinsville with a Championship caliber team and good equipment.  Even though I’ve never been to Martinsville before, I have a lot of faith in the team and know that they will be putting a good truck underneath me.”

Notables:

Fike will make his fourth career start in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and first at Martinsville Speedway at the drop of the green flag for the start of the Kroger 250 on Saturday, March 31st, 2007.

Three Red Horse Racing Team Members Return to Their Home State:

The Kroger 250 at Martinsville Speedway marks the homecoming for three of Red Horse Racing’s team members who hail from the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Crew Chief Jamie Jones is from Virginia Beach and Suspension Specialist Charles “Rowdy” Cannaday is from Chesapeake. Both cities are on the coast of Virginia and are only 20 miles apart but are nearly four and a half hours from Martinsville Speedway.  Fabricator Justin Meador, on the other hand, is from Bedford, Virginia which is only an hour and a half from the .526-mile short-track.

Aaron Fike’s Performance in Atlanta:

Aaron Fike and the Red Horse Racing team had a strong performance at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Friday, March 16th.  The team pulled out their best qualifying performance of the year (5th) en route to their best finish of the season (12th).  By virtue of their 12th place finish, Fike picked up two spots in the Championship Point Standings and currently sits 13th, only three points out of 12th and a mere seven points out of the top-10.

Aaron Fike Leads the Raybestos Rookie of the Year Race:

Aaron Fike currently leads the 2007 Raybestos Rookie of the Year Standings with 30 points.  He holds the lead over Joey Clanton (29), Kelly Bires (26), Willie Allen (24), Blake Bjorklund (22), and Tim Sauter (21).
